We Were Born For This

I think we’ve all witnessed someone who excels at their craft and is extremely talented in their work to whom we would say, “you were born for this”.

Anyone come to mind?

Let’s dive in.

“And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing; Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.”
Luke 9:21-22

The disciples just declared the truth about who Jesus was. They said, “you are The Christ of God.” While this was a very profound moment, Jesus told His disciples not to share it with anyone. They still had much to see, learn and understand about Jesus before they could share this information.

In this passage of scripture, Jesus told them exactly what was to happen to Him. He would suffer, be rejected by the religious leaders, die and be raised from the dead.

Although the disciples didn’t fully understand this statement yet, Jesus laid out His purpose here on earth.

This is what He was born to do.

Jesus came to this earth to redeem us. He came to be the innocent, sacrificial lamb that would pay the price for our sins. Jesus came so that we might live.

When we accept His beautiful gift of grace and salvation, we also unwrap our purpose. We find what we were born to do.

We were born to glorify God, to share Him with others and teach them to do the same.
