The Greatest Story Ever Told

Every hero has a story.

Let’s take Captain America for example. He was a scrawny kid who joined the army with his buddy and signed up for an experimental procedure to make him a better, stronger soldier. Red, white, and blue ran through his veins as he fought for his country. His shield and his patriotism became his weapons.

You can go through every character and hear their backstory, who their enemy was, how they defeated them, and what scars it left behind. The best thing about heroes are the stories – of their battles, their power, their loves, and their defeat of evil. Their greatness lives on because of the story being told generation after generation.

“And it came to pass, when all the kings of the Amorites, which were on the side of Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, which were by the sea, heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of Jordan from before the children of Israel, until we were passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Israel.” (Joshua 5:1)

The Amorites and Canaanites heard of what God did at the Jordan River. Now that the Israelites had crossed the river, there was nothing left to stop them. How did they hear about this?

The story had been told. Word spread fast about the miracle of God and His power. And their response was immediate. It says, “their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more”.

Can you imagine?! These people hadn’t seen it with their own eyes, but they had heard the story of what happened and believed it and were afraid!

Today, our Hero’s story is the greatest ever told. Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, came to this earth to redeem His people from sin. He lived a sinless life, He willingly gave His life on the cross, suffering a horrible death, so that we could be spared. He was buried. And three days later, he rose again, defeating Death! Hell has no power, death has lost its grip! Jesus is ALIVE!

That’s a story of a true hero! His power melts the heart of those who hear it. Are you sharing it? How will others know Him unless you tell of what great things He has done?

Point them to the scriptures. Help them to see who He is.

Share with them your own testimony of how Jesus saved and changed you.

Live out the Lord’s commandments by serving Him faithfully in your local church, your daily life, and live out His love!

Help them see Jesus! God, forgive me when I am more like me than you! Help them to see you in me!
