Love Is More Than a Feeling—It’s a Daily Choice
63 Views

We celebrated our children’s first wedding anniversary in April. It’s hard to believe they’ve been married for a whole year. There have been many changes in their lives, with moves, new jobs, learning to live with each other’s habits and preferences, and making decisions about building a new home.

We had gotten them an anniversary card, and tucked at the bottom of the page was a verse of Scripture from Colossians 3:14.

“But above all these things, put on love, which is the bond of perfection.”

Perfection, unity, harmony. One cohesive unit, working together for a common goal.

How is this possible?

Paul said, put on love.

What does that kind of love look like? Paul answers that question in his first letter to the Corinthians.

In 1 Corinthians 13, he tells us that love is patient, kind, not jealous, boastful, proud, or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It doesn’t rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins. Love never gives up, never loses faith.
