Jesus Sees Potential
29 Views

What do you see? God sees potential.

If the conditions are favorable, these bird eggs will hatch, and there will be more beautiful birds in God’s world.

The disciples may not have seemed like the ideal candidates. They were ordinary, uneducated working men. But Jesus saw something that everyone else overlooked. He saw potential.

Those same men would become examples of courage, perseverance, sacrifice, and faith. Filled with the Holy Spirit, they would dedicate their lives to proclaiming the gospel and helping change the world.

I often ask myself, “Does Jesus see that same potential in me? Have I reached it?”

The honest answer is no—not yet. It’s a daily struggle, and most days I fall short. But in spite of my failures, the God of the universe still loves me. Hallelujah!

When Jesus walked along the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon Peter and Andrew casting their nets. He didn’t just see fishermen. He saw future disciple-makers.

And He said, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” (Matthew 4:19)

Jesus still sees what we can become through His grace. The question is not whether He sees potential in us. The question is whether we are willing to follow Him and allow Him to shape us into the people He created us to be.
