Is Your Heart a Highway to Him?

How blessed is the man whose strength is in You, in whose heart are the highways to Zion! (Psalm 84:5)

Psalm 84 is a glorious description of God’s presence. How beautiful His dwelling place is, and how blessed are those who conciously dwell there!

There is a blessing awaiting those men and women who enter in, and even more, those who live there, who choose to reside in His presence.

This place is open to all who are hungry and willing. “The place on Jesus’ breast is still open,” Oswald Sanders said, “and open for all who are willing to pay the price of continuing intimacy.”

You can choose to live other places. Most do. But they are impoverished for their decision. They vainly think that the world and its offerings are the final and best destination, worth sacrificing everything for. But this world is a mere shadow of the next. And nothing compares to the incomparable privilege of entering into His presence right now in concious experience … and we can. We can draw near and commune with Him all day, praying without ceasing. He has made this way open to us.

Blessed is the man who sees this as the highest value and greatest joy. He begins every day drawing near. He has learned to use the means of God’s Word and prayer so well that he dwells in God’s presence, learning to experience God’s nearness more and more. This is the one “in whose heart are the highways to Zion!” This is the one who knows the best of this life and is more greatly prepared for the life to come.

And if your heart is a ready highway to Him, not only can you live there, but others will see the beauty of His presence and join you there. And there could be no greater privilege.
