How Are You Preparing?

Posters were hung all over town. Social media campaigns were running strong, urging people to vote. Everywhere you went, you heard people talking about this big event. Small Business Revolution on Main Street seeks out small towns that need a little help in being revitalized. Voters help cities across America move up the ranks and when the final votes come in, one city is declared the winner of $500,000 to 6 small business and the help of the team.

Searcy, a little town in White Co. Arkansas, was the winner in 2019. 75 miles away, and we would hear people talking about it around our town. Everyone was excited about the crew coming, and let me tell you… the preparations were underway.

Remember when your mom would tell you to clean your room because company was coming? Think bigger.

Yeah. That big.

Can you imagine the buzz about town to make it look and feel deserving? Everyone was anxiously waiting for their arrival. They needed help and they were looking to the ones who could give it to them.

“And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore. And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him, And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was. And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.” (Mark 6:53-56)

Jesus and His disciples have made it to Gennesaret, a small area on the west side of the Sea of Galilee, close to Capernaum. As they exited the ship, they were met by a crowd of people seeking Jesus. They had heard He was coming. They had been waiting for Him, preparing for the moment He would arrive. A great number of people desperately waited for Him to come to this little place so that they might be healed.

The scripture mentions that they sought after Him, hoping to just touch the hem of His garment to be healed. Surely, they had heard of the woman who was healed of the blood issue (Mark 5:27). The news had traveled and the people were waiting for their Savior. They needed help and they were looking to the One who could give it to them.

How are you preparing for the coming of the Savior? Men and women have given their lives to the furtherance of the gospel. Missionaries devoting their lives to go and teach others to get ready for His return. God’s Holy Word tells us that He is coming again, so how have you prepared?

We need help.

We need to look to the only One who can provide for this need.

Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

“And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” (Acts 16:30-31)

Believe in Jesus and He will save you. It’s that simple.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10)

Confess your sins unto God. Believe that He can and will forgive you. Share that with someone. Share what God is doing in your life and how He saved you. Study His Word to grow closer to God, to learn more about your Savior, Jesus Christ, and the work He has prepared for you. Continue in that work until the day He returns, no matter what trials and tribulations may come.

Why?

Because He is worthy.

This world is broken and needs help. Let’s point them to the only One who can provide, Jesus Christ.
