You’re Not Alone, Mama—We See You
This is for all the mamas who go to bed tired and get up, well, tired. The moms who may count the minutes until the bus comes, so they can drink their coffee in peace and maybe even go back to bed, because, well, they’re still tired after that cup of coffee.
This is for the mamas who eat on the fly while driving to work and walk into their job with oatmeal and coffee all over their white shirt.
This is for the mom who may be working away and realizes her pants are unzipped (especially horrifying when others point it out).
The Mental Load Is Real
This is for the mamas who sometimes forget important things, like appointments, deadlines, or even what day it is. This is for the senior mama who gets caught up in all the senior things so she forgets to submit her senior child’s dedication for the yearbook (and is forever reminded of that).
This is for the mothers whose hormones are fluctuating and wreaking havoc on their mood. This is for the mamas whose teenage daughters look at them and say, “Haven’t you gone through menopause yet? You know, moms do that at your age.”
From Goldfish Dinners to Homework Chaos
This is for the moms who pack everyone else’s lunches first and realize they have nothing left for their lunch (well, other than Goldfish and granola bars).
This is for the mamas whose biggest battle is dinnertime, knowing that whatever they choose, someone will not like it.
This is for the mamas who plug away, helping their kiddos with homework while cleaning up the dinner that not everyone ate and managing to feed the dog—all at the same time.
Encouragement for Moms Who Feel Overwhelmed
This is for the mama who asks her kiddos to repeat what they just said because her mind is thinking of 1,000 things that need to be done before bedtime, and nothing is making sense or sinking in right now.
This is for the mamas who drive to their kiddos’ games and cheer them on, whether they played the whole game or just a few minutes. This is for the mamas who cheer on their kids more after the game is over.
This is for all the mamas who go to the bathroom and realize, all too late, that their boys have not hit the mark. Again.
Why Your Faith and Consistency Matter
For all you tired mamas out there, I see you—keep it up! Although you may not see it, you are making a difference. Let your kids see you not giving up. Keep talking to those kids who pretend not to listen. Continue teaching the same lessons repeatedly. Continue to preach the importance of a clean room, good grades, and simply being a kind person.
And most of all, keep sharing faith. Keep talking about hope, faith, and Jesus to your kids—it’s hard to be a kid, and they need all the encouragement they can get. Keep pointing to the One who can help them with that hard test, fake friend, or big bully. And even though you are exhausted, mama, ending your busy days with family prayer can be the best balm of all for everyone’s hearts.
Final Encouragement for Tired Moms of Faith
You are the most important influence your child sees day and night, and they are picking up more than you ever imagined. More is caught than taught, dear friends. Keep walking out your faith, keep talking to Jesus, keep inviting Him into your business. Let your people see you need Jesus. And most of all, let them see you love Him.
Because we are tired, we need Him just as much as our kiddos. Maybe more.
Bring out that lioness within you and keep roaring. Those cubs need to be fed . . . and they tend to listen more when they are hungry.
And one day, God willing, they might just roar like you taught them to.
Cheering you on,
Another tired mama who lives off of coffee and God’s grace
(and whose pants are occasionally unzipped)
