HOW TO BE THE GREATEST POSSIBLE FORCE FOR GOOD IN YOUR WORLD
148 Views

We all have a brief season of life on this earth. History records many who were horribly destructive, ruining the lives of those around them. There have been some who have been moderately helpful, which is wonderful. But there are others who seem to make the greatest impact. Whose lives touch everyone around them in the maximum way. Who seem to live as God intended.

Would you like to be one? To be the highest possible force for good in the part of the world where God has placed you?

Don’t worry about your education, or lack, your background or experiences. Don’t be hindered in your thinking by all that you’ve missed or messed up in the past. Those are merely preparatory and can be redeemed by God in ways you cannot understand. They are of little consequence in comparison to the greatest factor. Here it is from the pen of one of the greatest men in human history, the Apostle Paul.

Have this attitude (mind) in yourself which was also in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 2:5)

IT STARTS HERE

God has told us that what is in our heart and mind drives everything else. The key for the greatest One that ever walked the earth was not His environment or His opportunity or His education or any external factors.

It was His mind, His heart, what flowed from within. The mind of Christ determined everything about His life. And what did Christ believe, what drove His life?

Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. (Philippians 2:5-8)

(We know this was the greatest thing about Christ because Paul goes on to say that it was for this heart and action that “God has highly exalted Him and given Him the Name above every other name”)

Christ was filled with the mind and heart of His Father, which was perfect love. The opposite of Divine love is not hatred; it’s selfishness. Divine love (“agape” in the Greek language) is that Divine quality that always responds in self-sacrifice. The supreme illustration of this is God loving us so much that He gave His only Son for us and, in Christ, it was not grasping His position in heaven with the Father, but “emptying Himself” and becoming a man and dying on our behalf. It marked the pivotal moment in human history.

Now, Paul is telling us that we can have that same mind and make a kindred impact on the world around us.

WHOEVER AND WHEREVER

… you are, it doesn’t matter. You will astound your world, bless everyone around you, and delight the One who made you, if you surrender to Christ and let His mind be in you. The love of God will fill you and then drive you into continual self-sacrifice that cares more about everyone around you than yourself. You will not be plagued by the whining, proud, grasping, selfish spirit that characterizes most of us, but the beautiful life of Christ that flows in you and through you to your slice of the human history.

Your life will reach its highest joy and greatest potential. You will be the one that truly lives and fulfills the destiny that was in God’s mind when He first thought of you.
