What’s Inside God’s Greatest Gift to You?

“What’s inside?”

I asked my husband as I shook the beautifully wrapped package.

“Do you want this gift or not?” he replied.

“Well, what’s it for? Is it a special day, or did I do something to earn it? Wait, did you do something wrong?”

He shook his head. “No, it’s just because I love you. Now, do you want it?”

Would you take it, open it, and receive this gift?

I’d be crazy not to, wouldn’t I?

How wonderful it is to receive gifts for no other reason than because someone loves us!

What if I told you God has a gift for you?

No, you don’t have to do anything to earn it or deserve it. There’s no catch. It’s a gift because He loves you.

Would you accept it?

We just finished our walk through 2 Corinthians. Turning the page to Galatians feels like untying the red silk ribbon on a beautifully wrapped present.

What’s inside? Is it for you? Is it for all of us?

The gift that awaits us is like nothing we’ve ever experienced. It’s completely life-changing! It’s so tremendous that we will want to share it with everyone we know.

Are you ready to dive in and discover what’s inside?

Slip off the ribbon, tear open the box, and see what God has given to you.

Galatians 1:4
“Jesus gave His life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live.”

Talk about a gift!

Paul wrote this letter to the Galatians to address some confusion about the Gospel. There were false teachers trying to force new believers to become Jews in order to be Christians. These people were called Judaizers and believed you had to follow the Law—all of their rules—in order to earn salvation. They just couldn’t understand the simple truth of the Gospel.

Salvation is a free gift from God. We can’t do anything to earn it. Why? Because it was already paid for by Jesus on the cross.

Throughout this book, we will hear more about the truth of salvation and the freedom and life-change it brings.

Prayer:
God, who am I that You should desire to give me a gift—one that was paid for by the life of Your only Son, Jesus Christ? Help me read Your words in this book, understand the truth behind Paul’s message, and accept the incredible and wonderful gift of salvation by grace alone. Help me quit focusing on my worth being based on performance and recognize the reality that You alone are able and worthy. I’m grateful for this opportunity to sit with You daily and discover more about who You are and Your love for me. Walk with me, Lord. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Questions:

Galatians 1:3 says, “May God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.” What is grace, and where do grace and peace come from?

Paul said, “Jesus gave His life for our sins…in order to rescue us.” What sins would be serious enough for God to send His Son to the cross to die for us, and why do we need to be rescued?
