Walking in Christ

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him. (Colossians 2:6)

Paul has given us great instructions on how to come to Christ and “receive” Him as Lord and Savior, now he turns to how we must live in every moment of the common day. And here are the simple, profound instructions: You walk in Him the same way you received Him.

· You received Christ in humility, recognizing your need and acknowledging your sin. Keep walking that way.

· You received Him as LORD, willing to surrender to Him as your Master. Keep ordering your life that way.

· You received Him in faith, knowing there was no one else who could save you and trusting Him, and Him alone, to deliver you. Keep walking in utter dependence upon Him.

· You received Him in humble simplicity … just coming to Him … not “figuring it all out” (which you can’t). Keep coming in simple faith.

· You received Him willingly, gladly choosing Him above all else and willing to do whatever He asked. Don’t let a stubborn pride creep in and destroy your simple dependence.

· You received Him as the Lord and your Lord, knowing there was no one else on heaven and earth before whom you should bow, but you gladly knelt before Him and embraced Him as Lord. Keep bowing.

You must not complicate this. It is as simple as it seems, although there are many adversaries and many who would try to confuse you (which is what Paul is addressing in this chapter to the Colossians).

As you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.
