Yesterday, I had the opportunity to visit with a friend. Okay, not just any friend. We’ve been best friends since the 6th grade. More on that to come later.
When I arrived at her house and walked in, immediately, her husband said, “Is that who I think it is?”
See, he wasn’t home when I arrived, he was in his office, in another state. But, because of technology, he knew exactly who was at the door the moment I arrived and called. And when he called, we could see one another. Of course he was trying to be quiet because he was at work and I was being loud, because that’s who I am… but on with the story.
The ring doorbell. Such a neat invention, right? I looked to see where they got their start, and interestingly enough, they made an appearance on Shark Tank in 2013. While they left without taking one of the offers, they still made a great product and recently sold to Amazon making billions.
Have you ever invented something? That’s the premise behind the show Shark Tank. They invest in your creations and you can choose to take the deal they offer or walk away.
I’ve seen some really neat things over the years on this show and there is always one thing that amazes me – the person standing there had to create this out of nothing. From the idea, the vision, the planning, the building, production, it was all nothing before they began and now, well, it’s definitely something.
John 1:2-3
“The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”
As we continue our study of John, we can see more and more evidence of who Jesus is. Verse two reminds us that Jesus was also in the beginning with God. Meaning that He isn’t a created being, He didn’t come to existence at birth, but He is eternal. And then we see what He was doing. He was creating with God.
Look around you right now wherever you are. What do you see? Every thing has to have a creator. The painting on the wall didn’t paint itself. The table didn’t build itself. The lamp didn’t just exist, someone had to create it. If we look out the window and see the world around us, immediately, we recognize there has to be someone or some thing that created this.
Romans 1:20
“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:”
We have no excuse to not believe in God. We have no excuse to not believe that Jesus is one with God. He is the creator of all!
He spoke and the heavens were filled with stars. Just a breath and the earth was formed, the waters, the soil, the animals, every single one of them all because of the Creator. And then God, Jesus, and His Holy Spirit, together, chose to create something special. Something or someone that would worship the Creator.
He created man.
Ephesians 2:10
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
We were created by them with a purpose – to glorify, to worship, to honor, to commune, to walk with, to follow, to praise our Creator!
When we recognize who we are, that we have been created by God and we surrender our way for His, something beautiful happens.
2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
At the moment of salvation, the Holy Spirit of God and Jesus is sent to live within us. All of the old is gone and we are made new! Our thoughts, feelings and physical body have to come around to who this new creation is, but the more time we spend with our Creator, the more we see this new creation within ourselves.
Have you been changed by Jesus? Or have you never taken that step of recognizing that He created you and deserves your worship?
He created us for a purpose and it’s to glorify Him. Are we fulfilling that purpose today?
Stop. Whatever you’re about to do, un-rush yourself and just stop. And pray. If you need, pray for the Lord to save you. Praise Him for creating you. Ask Him to show you how He wants to use you to accomplish His big plan.
Just praise Him.
He is worthy.
He is the Creator.
