With a quick scan through the rundown, I could see what was making the list as top stories that morning. I began clicking through each one, writing the scripts for each entry.
Breaking news – a home burned down overnight.
This just in – a high-speed chase ends in 3 arrests and a major drug bust for local police.
New this morning – a local organization is bringing a big name celebrity to town! You won’t believe who it is, but we’ve got a few hints for you this morning! All the details coming up.
Looks like a little frost on the pumpkins this morning! Let’s go to Sarah for a sneak peek at the weather this morning.
Story after story, all entered into the 5 AM block. This would be what people needed to hear before they rushed out the door.
What is the best news worth sharing? Have you ever really thought about that as you thumb through the paper, Facebook, or news channels?
Sometimes I would cringe at the stories we were running. I would think, “Are you kidding me? How is this news?” I wanted to share something that would prick the hearts of the people watching. I wanted to share the news that would fill them with hope and reassurance. I wanted to give them solid truth.
I wanted to share the best news ever.
“But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.”
Luke 5:15
“Went there a fame abroad” means, the news spread. But what news?
It was the news of Jesus Christ. When one person was healed of their illness or disability, can you imagine how many they told?
It was the best news anyone could share: “Jesus Christ healed me! I was this way before and now, I am a new person! I have been changed!”
Everyone that Jesus healed was making the name of Jesus famous throughout the land. Every single one.
Who have you told recently about what Jesus did for you? Or, are you good just knowing that Christ saved you and you don’t want to make a big deal about it?
Friend, it’s a big deal! And it needs to be told! Jesus saved you from eternal death! He has restored you! He has paid the penalty for your sins!
Is it not the best news ever?!
