Shining Light in Chaos
111 Views

He sees. He knows. He’s not blind. He’s not ignorant.

He’s in control.

Just like He’s always been.

But His plan doesn’t fit with how our mind thinks. There is a greater plan in place.

We’re out here trying to save our comforts, and He’s out there saving the souls of men and women around the world.

Take a look around. There is chaos everywhere. You can’t turn on the TV or open your phone without reports of war, famine, drought, natural disasters, murders, stealing, fighting, and detestable acts of all kinds against humanity. Things that make me sick, scared, and fearful of the future.

From our little finite minds, it looks like things are out of control, and the madness has no end.

In the darkness, the light shines the brightest.

Acts 12:21-23
“On the appointed day, Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people.
22 They shouted, “This is the voice of a god, not of a man.”
23 Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.”

Herod Agrippa I ruled the Roman-controlled land of Jerusalem, where he had been assigned. He defied God, murdered Christians, and then allowed the people to praise him and recognize him as a god himself.

And God righteously judged him right there on the throne he thought he occupied.

The Jewish Christians, too, glanced around them to see all that was taking place. They no longer ruled their own land but were governed by a pagan country, Rome, who detested God and worshipped themselves. They were being hunted down, killed, and imprisoned. Many lived in fear of what might happen next.

John the Baptist had been beheaded. Jesus, the Messiah, had been crucified. Stephen was stoned to death. James was killed with the sword. Peter was imprisoned.

They could look around and see nothing but chaos. Many feared for their lives and their futures.

But God…

He was at work.

In the darkness, the light shines the brightest.

He destroyed that king.

He released Peter from prison for a purpose.

And verse 24 tells us what that was.

“24 But the word of God continued to spread and flourish.”

Many believers were added to the church! God was saving their souls for eternity.

This world is temporary.

Suffering may happen for a time, but it cannot compare to the eternity that awaits. For a believer, that eternity is spent in Heaven with Christ. For those that deny Him, it will be spent in Hell, eternally separated from God.

He sees. He knows. He’s not blind. He’s not ignorant.

He’s in control.

Just like He’s always been.

But His plan doesn’t fit with how our mind thinks. There is a greater plan in place.

We’re out here trying to save our comforts, and He’s out there saving the souls of men and women around the world.

Will we join Him? Are we willing to shine the light of Christ in this dark world?

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning! – Psalm 30:5

Joy is coming! God is working! Yes, there is a lot of craziness in this world, but have you seen the incredible revivals taking place? Thousands of college students are coming to Christ. Multiple people in the Middle East are surrendering to Jesus. People are turning to Jesus in times of war because they need hope. Indigenous people on islands who have never heard the name of Christ finally have a Bible in their own language and are hearing for the first time that Jesus loves them and will forgive them.

JESUS IS AT WORK!

Let us shine the light of Christ in this dark world!
