Sharing Jesus

Brock Purdy.

No matter your reaction when you hear it, one thing is for sure: he’s become a household name. With his underdog backstory, word quickly spread, and he won the hearts of people everywhere. Even die-hard Cowboys fans were cheering for him in the Super Bowl. He took a lot of flack from people. I mean a lot. And you would think that had to have been weighing on or wearing him down. That amount of ridicule would get to anyone. But he continued, pressing toward the goal, taking the world by storm.

John 12:17-19
“The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.
18 For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.
19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.”

Those who had witnessed the miracle could not contain it. They had to tell. They had to share about the most incredible thing they had ever seen! The word was spreading. Lazarus was alive, brought back from the dead by Jesus!

Who was this man? What incredible power must He have to raise the dead and to heal the blind, the lame, and the deaf?

People came in droves, hoping for an opportunity to meet or even just see Lazarus and Jesus.

And it infuriated the Pharisees.

All of their ploys to get rid of Him thus far had failed. Nothing had worked, not their efforts to discredit Him, charge Him with a crime, or catch Him lying.

Nothing.

I can imagine their frantic, huddled conversation behind closed doors as the streets filled with people rushing to find Jesus.

“People are still talking about Him! The word spreads about the miracle of raising Lazarus from the dead. Can’t you see that we are accomplishing nothing?! The whole world is gone after Jesus!”

When we have an experience with Jesus, an encounter that changes us completely, does our witness spread like wildfire, too?

If Christ has saved us, we have been raised from death to life!

“But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,
5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.
6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.” – Ephesians 2:4-6

That’s a miracle! It’s the single most important thing you could share! Don’t you want to tell somebody? What good does it do to keep that bottled up inside?

Spread the news! Tell someone how Jesus has changed you! And how He wants to do the same for others.

Like Lazarus, I was once dead. Dead in my sins. But Jesus called to me, urging me to confess my sins and turn away from them and to Him. That’s what repentance is. He said, “Surrender it all to Me.”

He brought me from death to life, and I’ve been running beside Him ever since. Shouting to the world – “Jesus has rescued me – He wants to rescue you too!”

There is NOTHING in this world more powerful than Jesus. He has the power to save, secure, redeem, change, cleanse, empower, and prepare us.

In Christ, there is no shame. There is no darkness; nothing can overcome His light. He makes a way when there is no way.

Do you know Him?

If you do, share it! Someone is waiting for you to tell how Jesus rescued you!

If you don’t know Him or have never put your faith in Jesus Christ, now is the time.

There are no magic words or special prayers you have to pray; it’s simply speaking what’s on your heart to Jesus and trusting that He alone is God, He alone can save you, and He alone is worthy of your life surrendered to Him.

Not the amount of good you do, not baptism, not earning His love; Jesus alone can save you.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God” – Ephesians 2:8

Go to Him in prayer. Confess your sins before Him. Repent. And turn your face towards Jesus and run to Him!

And then share it!

If all of us believers would do that…

The world would go after Him.
