When I was a kid, we often watched Star Trek with my dad. I loved when they would hit their little communicator and say “beam me up” or “ready for transport”. Within moments, they were gone from one place and appeared in another. I could only imagine what that would be like! I thought it was just downright amazing.
So, God kind of did that.
Really! Sort of.
I mean, He didn’t need a machine to do it. God is all powerful and can do anything.
Don’t believe me?
Watch this…
Acts 8:38-40
“And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
40 But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.”
😳
How crazy is that?
Philip wasn’t some magician doing a disappearing act. Remember, he was just a man who had been selected to help with food distribution in Jerusalem. But when persecution became intense, he left and began sharing the gospel in Samaria and everywhere he went. He was obedient to the voice of the Lord. Whatever God wanted him to do, he would do it.
Why would God transport him from this place to Azotus? All I can tell you is that this man was fully surrendered to being used by God for His purpose. He joined Christ on His mission to reach the uttermost parts of this world. Everywhere he went, he shared about the good news of Jesus.
What about us?
If we have been saved by God, then we have been changed by Him. Are we fully surrendered to Him? Are we following obediently?
Are you on mission with Christ to reach the uttermost?
That was the last command given by Christ before He ascended to the Father in Heaven. He said, “Go and make disciples.”
The Lord can do as He pleases – He’s God! So if He decided to pick me up and transport me to another area to reach those people with His gospel, then He can.
But you know what I see?
Thousands of people pour into the US from other countries seeking a better life. The uttermost is coming to us.
And we have exactly what they need.
Are we willing to share it?
What an example Philip is to all of us!
