Nothing Can Separate You From God’s Love

“Just mix this bowl into this one and watch as it becomes something brand new.”

The students watched with amazement as we poured the liquid substance into our glue mixture, and the change began. Immediately, the borax reacted with the glue, and what was once a liquid became a solid.

Slime.

It was a huge craze, and the kids loved it! It was a great way to show how science is cool and that once that change has happened, there is no going back.

The slime could never go back to being water, glue, and borax. It could only be slime. It was the product of a chemical reaction that created something completely new. It could never be separated back into its original state.

Romans 8:35-39
“35 Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36 (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) 37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Holy Spirit entered your life when you accepted the Lord’s gift of salvation. You became a new creation. And nothing, absolutely nothing, can separate you from God.

Paul spoke to Roman believers who would soon go through terrible persecution. He didn’t know the timing, but as a believer, it’s promised.

Christ said we would have trouble in this life, but to take heart. He overcame this world.

This passage of scripture is one of the most remarkable throughout the Bible. If you are God’s child, you cannot be separated from Him. He is always with you. When there are troubles, trials, and persecution, you may feel like He’s abandoned you, but He promises that He is right there with you. He will never leave you or forsake you, even in death.

What is death in this life? For a believer, it’s simply moving from one place to another, from temporal to eternal.

My father-in-law loved these verses. It was a promise he was clinging to even in his last days. He knew a life before Christ and didn’t want to ever return to that life. He held tightly to this promise that he could never be separated from God’s love.

What are you facing? Do you feel the storm raging and no shore in sight? Do you feel betrayed and forgotten? Are you weary from attack? Hold tightly to the promise of God – You are not alone! He will sustain you. He will provide.

Because nothing, nothing, can separate you from God.
