What would be your best life advice you would give at this point in your life?

If you knew you only had a few days to live life, what would you do?

Bible Connection

Read about Jesus‘ new command to the disciples in John 13:31-35.

Jesus’ last words to His disciples were so beautiful and so simple: love one another. That love would distinguish them from others. Their love would show that they were disciples of Christ. As a follower of Christ, we have to examine our words and actions. Do they reflect love? Do we see the best in people? Do we forgive? And, do we give grace to others? Jesus said, in Luke 6:45, that our words and actions reveal what’s in our heart. If we live out the greatest commandment of loving the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, God will give us the heart to love His kids. It’s all about the heart!

Who is your biggest helper?

Who helps you out in your time of need?

Bible Connection

Jesus promised His disciples that God would give them a helper. Read about this helper in John 14:15-18.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth. Jesus’ time with the disciples was short, but He promised He wouldn’t leave them as orphans. Since Jesus wouldn’t be with them to teach and guide them, He asked God to send them a helper. The Holy Spirit, God’s Spirit, will help them grow and do things they never thought they could do! The Holy Spirit is a gift to all of us who take Jesus Christ as our Savior.

What are some things you have learned in school or out of school this week? This month?

Bible Connection

Jesus commands us to do something in order to help us grow in our faith. He leaves a powerful visual for His disciples as believers in Christ. Read John 15:1-8 and tell me what we are supposed to do.

Jesus is the vine, God is the vineyard keeper, and we are the branches. If we stay connected to the vine, we believers will “bear much fruit”; that just means, we will live in a way that shows we love Jesus. The Holy Spirit also gives us “fruit”, which is a special empowerment in the following areas: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Faith Connection

The key to abiding in our relationship with Jesus? We must stay connected to Him!

There are many ways to stay connected: going to church to hear sermons about Jesus, reading our Bibles each day, praying, listening to Praise and Worship music, and reading devotionals.

These ways keep us growing in our knowledge about Jesus. Because here’s the point: “The heart cannot love what the mind doesn’t know.” – Jen Wilkins

The more we know, the more we can grow in our relationship with the Lord.
