In 1973, singer, Lanny Wolfe penned these words:
“God is greater than the wisest men.
Greater than the pow’r of sin.
God is greater than the gates of hell.
Greater than any tongue can tell.
God is greater than the richest king.
Greater than anything.
He’s greater (greater), Greater (greater)
Greater (greater), Greater (greater)
Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.”
That old gospel song came to mind during a sermon on 1 John. How often do we forget this simple truth?
The same power that created this entire world into can get you through a manic Monday.
The power that split the sea for Moses can get you through a tough Tuesday.
The power that shut the lion’s mouths for Daniel can see you through a wrecked Wednesday. The power that sent a giant toppling from a slingshot can see you through any terrible Thursday.
The power that healed the lame and gave sight to the blind can give you renewed strength on a frantic Friday.
The power that came down on Pentecost is still there for the asking this Saturday. And the power that took on death, hell and Satan and WON is the same power to get you out of bed and to church on Sunday!
Hey, child of God, will you live life differently today because you know without a shadow of a doubt Christ lives in you? Or that the power of His Spirit dwells within you? Open all the doors and give Him complete access to every area of your life!
“It stands to reason, doesn’t it, that if the alive-and-present God who raised Jesus from the dead moves into your life, he’ll do the same thing in you that he did in Jesus, bringing you alive to himself? When God lives and breathes in you (and he does, as surely as he did in Jesus), you are delivered from that dead life. With his Spirit living in you, your body will be as alive as Christ’s!” Romans 8:10-11.
