From Death to Life
68 Views

Many people who have had near-death experiences say their lives have been completely changed. They feel they have a second chance at life and don’t want to waste it.

A friend who had been diagnosed with cancer was only given a small likelihood that she would survive. She underwent chemo and radiation, and one day, she got the news that her cancer was in remission. She didn’t want to waste even a second of the days she had been given. There was joy bursting from her and a new light that shined bright.

Another survived a car accident, another survived brain surgery, another survived addiction and overdose, and yet another was rescued from a horribly abusive relationship. They all had a new outlook on life.

Why?

Because they were once almost dead and, now, they were alive.

Romans 6:3-11

“Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.

6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin

7 because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.

8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.

9 For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.

10 The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.

11 In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”

That’s SHOUTING good news!!

If you don’t feel it, reread it. Where it says we or you, insert your name. “Yalanda was dead, but now is risen with Christ. Yalanda has been freed from sin. Yalanda is dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus!”

Paul gives a clear explanation of what baptism is in this passage of scripture. Being immersed in water represents the death and burial of their sins. When they were raised out of the water, they were raised to new life in Christ Jesus. Our old life is dead and gone. Those sins are buried. The enemy tries to dig them up and shove them, dirt-covered, into your face, but you, if you have surrendered your life to the Lord and put your faith in Jesus, my friend, that sin has no power over you.

You were dead, but now you are alive!

Our new walk in Christ should show that.

Do we live each day like we have been given a second chance? Do we realize how precious time is and want to make the most of it, living for Christ and sharing the good things He’s done?

We should!

Has Christ saved you? Has He become Lord of your life? Is He your redeemer, rescuer, and restoration? Then, declare it to the world so they, too, can learn about the salvation Jesus offers.

Start today!

Colossians 3:12-17

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.

17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
