We knew a storm was coming. The weatherman had predicted it. But it was hard to pinpoint exactly when it would happen. Some said it would be within a few hours and others said it would be on into the night.
It wasn’t going to be just a little storm. People wouldn’t be wondering if it was here, they would know.
Within seconds, lightning flashed across the sky, illuminating the dark, puffy clouds. The bolt was fast, and stretched from East to West. There was no question if the storm was coming. It was here.
Luke 17:22-24
“And he said unto the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it. And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them. For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.”
Jesus knew there would be days when the disciples (and future followers) would plead for Jesus to return. The world would be in such a state of confusion, evil running rampant, and lawlessness abounding. They would desperately desire for Jesus to return at that moment.
With hearts feeling helpless and needing hope, Jesus knew they would be tempted to believe when false prophets arose. In His warning He stated there would be no question about whether or not it was Him. When He returned, all would be able to see it. Like lightning flashing across the sky, everyone would know it was Jesus, the Son of Man.
We’ve been waiting for a long time for Jesus to return. Many will say they are Christ or they know a specific day Jesus will return. We must heed the warning He gave to His disciples. Don’t be fooled by others claiming to be Jesus. Don’t fall for the lie that says He’s already come and this is Hell we are in now.
We will know when Jesus returns. There will be no doubt. All will be able to see.
“For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.”
The question is, are you ready?
