Honestly, this morning, I don’t know what He wants me to share. Every morning, I open my Bible, I pray, I read the next passage and wait for the Lord to bring something to my mind that fits with the scriptures. It’s usually some memory or story that will help someone relate to what’s going on in the passage.

But today…

Today, I’ll just simply share the passage.

Acts 2:44-47
“All the believers were together and had everything in common.
45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.
46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,
47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

This was the first church. A group of people who had a common belief in Jesus Christ as their Savior and came together. They were taught daily, unselfishly met one another’s needs, shared meals and prayed and worshipped the Lord together.

They gave sacrificially. They saw needs and without hesitation, they met them. They went to the temple for teaching, but their communion, their gathering, didn’t end there. They gathered in one another’s homes. They invested in each others’ lives. They were joyful. They were all in.

It was such a welcoming and inviting gathering that others came to see what it was all about. It says they added daily to their numbers those that were saved.

I don’t know what you’ve been through, the places you’ve gone to, the hurt or rejection you’ve endured, but listen…

This is the church.

This is what the first followers of Jesus were focused on.

Loving others. Giving from the heart. Teaching. Encouraging. Discipling. Reaching the lost. All with Christ at the heart.

Are we following this same example of the early church?

Are we Loving others. Giving from the heart. Teaching. Encouraging. Discipling. Reaching the lost. All with Christ at the heart?

Is He the focus of all we do?

Not just inside the church walls, but in every aspect of our lives.

When Jesus saved us, He bought us with a price. We are no longer our own. We are His!

All of us.

Not just the Sunday morning us. Not just the Bible study us. But 24 hours a day, 365 days a year us. Our jobs, our homes, our activities, our downtime – all of it should be Christ honoring.

All in.
