Have you ever had a plan come together so beautifully? Maybe it’s a house you dreamed up and designed and when it was finished, you stood in awe of each detail. Or maybe it was a project you worked on, or your wedding day, or…there are so many instances where you have the opportunity to step back and say, “That is awesome! It really came together!”
Details are important. When we built our cabin, I was insistent on the use of cedar, raw and hewn logs and adding in other elements, such as iron for the railings. I had a picture in my mind and it came out exactly as I had wanted.
I stepped back and said “wow”! I love how this all came together!
“And of Benjamin he said, The beloved of the LORD shall dwell in safety by him; and the LORD shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders.” (Deuteronomy 33:12)
Before Moses dies, he gives a blessing to each tribe of Israel. This is the blessing he gave to the tribe of Benjamin. It’s a blessing of protection, that in the Lord, they would have safety.
Let’s fast forward to Esther. This is what our ladies’ group has been studying on Tuesday nights. In this book, we find a group of Jewish people in Persia. Babylon had destroyed Jerusalem and the people had been taken into bondage. However, Babylon was overthrown and Persia became the reigning empire. Some of those Jews stayed in Persia while others made the long journey back home to Jerusalem. Mordecai and Esther were descendants of that group. If you haven’t read the book, you should definitely do that. Esther and Mordecai uncover a plot to not only kill the king, but also to destroy all of the Jewish people. Esther herself was Jewish, yet no one knew it yet. The whole book is about the providence of God. His hand orchestrating every detail preparing for this very moment- for such a time as this.
And it all goes back to this passage in Deuteronomy. A blessing of protection for the tribe of Benjamin. Can you guess which tribe Esther and Mordecai are from?
Benjamin!
Man! I love it when you see things like this! What an awesome thing to stand back and say “wow”! God, your plan was so detailed! All of it came together so beautifully!
You may not know it, but he’s doing that in your life too. He’s not finished with your story. He has this amazing plan of redemption and you have a place in it. Trust in Him and His timing!
