What do the following people have in common?
* C.S. Lewis, a professor at Oxford;
* Lee Strobel, an investigative journalist;
* Larry Sanger, the co-founder of Wikipedia;
* Rosaria Butterfield, an English professor and lesbian activist;
* and Simon Greenleaf, a Harvard law professor.
Each of these men and women was once a skeptic or nonbeliever. In different ways, they began examining Christianity and its claims, encountering the Bible along the way.
But something happened.
Within the pages of this book, they encountered truth. Their lives were changed, and they came to faith in Christ.
**1 Thessalonians 2:13**
*“For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.”*
This isn’t just some book. The Bible is made up of 66 books that were written by some 40 authors from diverse backgrounds. Yes, men penned the words, but they were directed by God and written over a span of 1,500 years.
It’s not just one book, but a library of historical accounts of lives being changed by the power of the Holy Spirit. It’s the very voice of God.
Paul knew the power of God’s Word, and he would stop at nothing to continue to bring it to people. The Thessalonians had received the Word of God and knew it was more than just talk from men. They had been changed.
Has it changed you?
**2 Timothy 3:16–17**
*“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
