ARE YOU BLIND?
Jesus was—and still is—an enigma. There is something about Him, about His words, about His life, that demands a response.
For many people, Jesus represents a set of principles to live by, but not a Person to follow.
The problem is that we only see ourselves, and in doing so, we miss Jesus.
We tell ourselves we’re doing the best we can. We’re moral, respectable people. We invest in our communities. We help others. Yes, we make mistakes, but we’re not nearly as bad as some other people.
But being a Christian isn’t a competition. It isn’t about measuring ourselves against everyone else. It isn’t even about trying to live up to a certain standard.
GOOD ISN’T GOOD ENOUGH.
The truth is, we’re blind. Broken. Unable to repair ourselves.
Then Jesus enters the story.
He does for us what we could never do for ourselves. We have a problem—sin—and Jesus is the only answer. We cannot fix what is broken within us, but He can.
The blind man in John 9 didn’t have all the answers. He couldn’t explain everything about Jesus. But he knew this:
“Though I was blind, now I see.”
Maybe that’s where faith begins—not by believing we can see clearly on our own, but by admitting we are blind and desperately need Jesus to open our eyes.
