From Fishermen to World Changers: The Power of God’s Calling
19 Views

What do you see? We see potential. If the conditions are favorable, these birds’ eggs will hatch, and more beautiful birds will fill God’s world.

The disciples may not have seemed like the most suitable choice, since they were uneducated working men. However, Jesus saw potential in them that others did not perceive. In fact, the disciples would go on to become men of honor, tenacity, and self-sacrifice, empowered by the Holy Spirit. They would give their lives to change the world and spread the gospel to every continent.

Does Jesus see potential in us? Have we reached our potential? It’s a daily struggle, and most days we fall short. But despite our failures, the God of the universe loves us . . . hallelujah!

One day, as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, He noticed two brothers, Simon, also known as Peter, and Andrew, throwing a net into the water. They were fishermen by profession. Jesus called out to them, saying, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” (Matthew 4:18–19)
