Blessed Is She Who Believed: Finding Faith When Life Hurts
443 Views

A diagnosis you didn’t see coming.
Someone you counted on walks away.
The door you prayed would open slammed shut.
The miracle you’ve been praying for just won’t come.
You’re walking through a storm that you never saw coming.
The silence from Heaven feels deafening.
Rejection has you feeling alone.
A prodigal child keeps your heart aching.
Grief hits when you least expect it.

Let’s face it: this world is heavy. Life is hard. And some days, just putting one foot in front of the other feels impossible.

There was a season in my life when I desperately needed God to show up. I started each morning begging God to move—to prove His faithfulness, to honor His promises. I reminded Him of His Word while crying tears of hope mixed with despair.

And there were days when God spoke to me in beautiful still, small whispers—pouring waves of peace and confirmation and reassurance over me.

But there were just as many days when His silence was deafening.

On both kinds of days, He was faithful. The emotions were real and raw—but so was His presence. His sovereign hand was at work. His plan was good, even when it didn’t feel good. His grace sustained me. His love never stopped.

“Blessed is she who believed” are beautiful words written in Luke 1:45. I just love that He included them in His Word. Blessed is she who believed.

Just a few verses before that, God’s own special angel was dispatched to tell a young virgin girl named Mary that she would become pregnant with the Redeeming Savior of the world.

And that very angel told this young girl, “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” (Luke 1:37)

And because God said it, Mary believed it. Wholeheartedly. Boldly. And full of faith.

Were there moments when she was overwhelmed? Probably.
Were there moments when she didn’t understand God’s plan? Most definitely.
Were there moments when things were hard? Absolutely.
Were there days when others doubted and discouraged her? Of course.

But through it all, God’s presence and peace and grace saw her through.

Mary was blessed—not because her path was easy—but because she believed. Because she trusted. Because she said yes to God even when she didn’t have all the answers.

Her faith wasn’t rooted in circumstances—it was rooted in the character of God.

Hebrews 11:6 says, “Without faith it is impossible to please Him.” That means—with faith, it is possible.

And friend, your faith brings joy to the heart of God. Your faith stirs His love for you. Your faith is pleasing to Him.

Does that mean everything will always be delightful and wonderful and perfect? Nope, that’s not what His Word promises at all.

Does that mean that He will always answer our prayers exactly the way we desire? No, because His ways are higher than our ways.

But what His Word does promise is that He will be with you every second, every step, in every dark night, every tear, every heartache, every doubt.

I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (Hebrews 13:5)

The same God who moved in Mary’s life still moves today.
The same God who created the moon and the stars is your Creator.
The same God who fed the Israelites with manna from Heaven will provide for you.
The same God who parted the Red Sea can move the mountain in front of you.
The same God who shut the mouths of lions can shut your enemies down.
The same God who rescued Rahab can rescue you.
The same God who healed Ruth’s broken heart can heal yours too.
The same God who turned an adulterous and broken Bathsheba’s story into good can turn your story around too.
The same Savior who calmed the raging storm on the Sea of Galilee can calm the storm in your heart.
The same Savior who had a grief-stricken, mourning heart can give your heart peace.
The same Savior who laid down on the cross more than two thousand years ago holds His redeeming hand out to you.

He was faithful then. He’s faithful now.
His possibilities are not limited by your circumstances.

And God speaks the same words to you that He did to Mary all those years ago—
For with God nothing shall be impossible.

But, friend—He wants you to have faith.
A faith that says, “Even if it doesn’t look the way I hoped… I’ll still believe.” Not faith in yourself, not faith in a perfect outcome.

Faith in Him.

It sounds so simple. And He means for it to be.

Trust Him.
Believe in Him.
Depend on Him.
Count on Him.
Follow Him.

And He will take care of the rest.

He’s not asking you to understand it all. He’s asking you to trust that He does.

Mark 5:36: “Be not afraid, only believe.”
