Where You Were Made to Be

Sometimes we’re in the wrong place, and the results are disastrous. What adult cannot testify to moments in their teen years when they were not where they were supposed to be, hanging out with the wrong crowd? Our temporarily confused values and desires caused us to dwell there, thinking it would give us life. But sin (and sinful choices) always lead to death.

David, in Psalm 41:12, had chosen a different path. He pursued the Lord and walked in integrity before Him. And the result?

As for me, You uphold me in my integrity, and You set me in Your presence forever. (Psalm 41:12)

God has ordained a place for His children. He has appointed us to be in His presence, not momentarily, but daily, continually, and forever. Everything in the Bible and human history is about His relentless call to us to live there.

SATAN

… has one great agenda: to separate us from the presence of God. In the Garden He observed the power of two people who walked and talked with God continually in His presence. His immediate response was to design a temptation to make them think there was a better place, an alternate choice that would make them like God. And we’ve all been touched with the deadly results of this exchange.

BUT GOD

… would not see His purposes thwarted. He called us, came and dwells with us to show us the value of His presence, died and rose again so we could be restored into His presence, sent His Spirit to indwell us so we can have 24/7 access to His presence, and has gone to prepare heaven for us so that where He is, there we may be also.

His presence is our greatest need, but our presence is His great delight. He wants us in His presence continually. His plan includes this, and He has called us to rule and reign with Him forever!

If you doubt God’s love for you, consider this: “You set me in Your presence forever.”
