Landfills stacked miles deep reflect the truth about people today.
We’ve become a disposable society.
Built to last is a promise of the past. Manufacturers would rather cut costs, make and sell a product cheaply that won’t last, and cause you to come back sooner for a replacement. The idea of paper plates, cups and napkins offers freedom and convenience, but at a cost. “They just don’t make them like they used to” is a phrase we often hear as people deal with car repairs, issues with washers and dryers, and a gazillion other appliances.
But it’s not just material items we are so quick to discard. Court dockets are full of marriage after marriage ready to be dissolved. Commitments once made, easily broken. Covenants disposed of. Lives shattered and thrown out like yesterday’s trash.
We desperately search for something that will withstand the storms, something that will bring us out of the ashes, something that will hold onto us when everything else around us fails.
Love never fails.
Not the type of “love” that people fall in and out of. Not the type of “love” that lures another away from their marriage. Not the type of “love” that feeds off of your lack of contentment. Not the type of “love” that offers convenience.
But real love.
And it can only be found in one place.
At the feet of Jesus.
1 Corinthians 13 is known as the love chapter in the Bible. Verses 4-7 describe the truth about love. The love that Jesus offers.
And in verse 8, Paul concludes the definition, the promise, the truth about the love of Christ.
“Love never fails.”
Even when our words fall short. When our world is falling apart. When the life we’ve built comes crashing down because of tragedy. When mistakes are made.
When we fail, love doesn’t.
When we fail, Jesus doesn’t.
Somehow, you stumbled on this today. It popped up on your feed, a friend sent it to you in a text, or you’re desperately searching for something that can rid you of the pain you’re feeling, the hurt you’re enduring, and you cling to anything that offers peace.
Then, this is for you.
That peace, that love you so desperately need, is only offered by Jesus Christ. He alone is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Everything hinges on what we believe about Him.
Did you know that Jesus loves you?
Did you know that Jesus is the Son of God and has all power and authority?
Did you know that He offers you forgiveness right now for anything and everything you’ve ever done?
Did you know that He died for your sins, took them to the grave, was buried, and rose from the dead so that you would not have to face that punishment your sins deserve?
Did you know that He wants a relationship with you and that all you have to do is believe in who He is and what He says He will do to receive that forgiveness and salvation?
Did you know that He has a purpose for you and your life to be used in His big plan to reach the world with salvation and to glorify God?
Did you know?
When all else has failed… love never does.
Will you trust Him today? Call out to Jesus and ask Him to save you and honor Him with your life by following Him. There is no greater thing.
Jesus was serious about His love for us, it’s time we got serious about our love for Him.
