Is this not the craziest thing? I took this photo yesterday while walking one of my dogs at lunch. Maybe it’s a reflection somehow. Anyone know? I’d love to hear the explanation.
See, that’s the thing about seeing or hearing something crazy, outlandish, or almost unbelievable. Some will blow it off and say it’s nonsense, some will want to know more, and others will believe.
That’s what was happening as Paul spoke in Acts 17.
Acts 17:32-34
“When they heard about the resurrection of the dead, some of them sneered, but others said, “We want to hear you again on this subject.”
33 At that, Paul left the Council.
34 Some of the people became followers of Paul and believed. Among them was Dionysius, a member of the Areopagus, also a woman named Damaris, and a number of others.”
Someone raised from the dead?
When they heard this, it was crazy, outlandish, unbelievable. However, as Paul spoke, while some called him crazy, others wanted to know more. And some believed. Here, Luke points out that two people – Dionysius and Damaris believed. Both were influential, prominent people. Dionysius was a philosopher; he was intelligent and well-respected.
Luke’s point to the Greeks is that many believed they were too smart to believe this stuff about God and His righteousness and that they would face judgment one day. But here, he points out two people who were just like them who did believe.
Sound familiar?
Many today claim to have all the answers. They are too smart for all this God stuff and deny His existence even when there is evidence of Him all around.
What we believe about the death and resurrection of Jesus is the most important thing for each of us.

Like Dionysius and Damaris, hear the truth, see for yourself, and believe.
