There is no way.
Have you found yourself saying this? I have. Whatever the situation, it seems impossible and there is no way it will work out.
But I have been proven wrong, at least once. 😉
I had a friend who was wild and crazy and I said “There is no way they will ever settle down, get married, have children…”
And years later, there they were proving me wrong.
A professor once told me, “There is no way he will ever be a doctor.”
And years later, there he is being a great physician.
Even within my family, some said none of us kids would ever amount to anything… Well.
Acts 7:57-58
“At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him,
58 dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their coats at the feet of a young man named Saul.”
Acts 8:1a
“And Saul approved of their killing him.”
Our first introduction of Saul. A Pharisee. He upheld the law to a T. He was present at the stoning of Stephen. He approved of the killing. He wanted to be rid of these Christians.
Acts 8:1b-3
“On that day a great persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria.
2 Godly men buried Stephen and mourned deeply for him.
3 But Saul began to destroy the church. Going from house to house, he dragged off both men and women and put them in prison.”
He hated Christians. He did everything in his power, and he held a lot of power, to destroy them. Christians fled the area because they were terrified of what Saul would do.
How would we react to this man today?
What if I said he would become one of the greatest missionaries and testimonies of Jesus Christ? What if I told you God used him to begin the spreading of the gospel?
Perhaps your response would be, “There is NO WAY!”
But God…
I love that, don’t you?
When it feels impossible, there’s God!
As we continue to read through the book of Acts, we will learn more about this transformation from Saul the Christian Persecutor, to Paul the Missionary for God.
Who is someone that comes to mind that you would say, “There is NO WAY they could ever be saved”?
Today, begin praying for the salvation of that person. You have no idea how God could use them. Who is that one you will pray for?
Or maybe, you’re reading this and you think, “That’s me. God could never forgive me for what I’ve done. He could never change me. He could never use me.”
Oh, but my friend…
When things feel impossible, there’s God.
He is THE WAY!
