The Quest for Eternal Life
295 Views

The quest for eternal life.

It sounds like some type of science fiction novel or movie. Searching the earth and the universe for the key to unlock the secret to eternal life. Everyone searches for it and fight for it, yet can it ever be found?

The truth is, we already have the key to eternal life.

John 17:1-5
“These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.”

Did you catch that?

Eternal life is available.

So, how do we get it?

Jesus made it clear to receive eternal life, we must believe in the one true and living God through His Son, Jesus Christ, whom He sent to us.

Billions of people are on this earth searching for truth, happiness and eternal life. And we have it!

So, what are we going to do with it?

You might be thinking, “Well it’s not my job to be a preacher.”

Friend – if you are a believer in Christ and you have this truth, there should be a desire within you to share it with someone who doesn’t.

Romans 1:16
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

Do you believe that Jesus can save anyone? Do you trust that He is powerful enough? Do we not feel that others should receive this beautiful gift of salvation as we did? Or do we think so lowly of them that they aren’t worthy?

We weren’t worthy either.

Christ died for all. He gave His life for ALL. And He gave His followers a command, not a suggestion, to go and make disciples.

Someone is waiting to hear today. They need the truth. They need to know God loves them and offers them eternal life.

And if Jesus is powerful enough to save us, He’s powerful enough to equip us to do the work He’s given us to do.
