The Most Wanted

When a manhunt is underway, resources and manpower are poured into the search. This highly sought-after person becomes a household name as their description is broadcast on every television, newspaper, and social media.

Wanted.

Jesus has never been more sought after than by the Pharisees, who desperately desired to kill Him.

John 11:53-57
“Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.
54 Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.
55 And the Jews’ passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.
56 Then sought they for Jesus, and spake among themselves, as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast?
57 Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he were, he should shew it, that they might take him.”

Jesus was a wanted man.

The difference between Jesus and other wanted criminals was that He was innocent. Not once had Jesus ever sinned.

There was something different about this man. Many followed after Him because they wanted to see or experience His miracles.

Others came and heard something new, something different, something refreshing. They saw others who had been changed by Jesus, and they wanted it too.

The Pharisees and Sadducees felt Jesus threatened their religious and political power and wanted to be rid of Him.

Never has Jesus been more wanted.

Today, what do you want from Jesus? There’s a reason you’ve read this far. Are you hoping to find something to disprove Him? Do you want what He offers for your own personal gain and power? Or are you searching for Hope that you’ve witnessed in others? Are you seeking help from the only true and living God?

May we seek after Christ and want Him with our whole hearts.
