God Wins in the End

We’ve been watching a show called ‘Leverage’. This group is kind of like a modern day Robin Hood. They help people who have been victimized by rich, scheming, malicious big shots who would otherwise be untouchable.

At certain points, it looks as if the villain has control and will win in the end. But, all of a sudden, the truth is revealed, the enemy is defeated and it shows the group really had control the whole time. It was all part of their plan. And the enemy is dumbfounded.

Luke 22:66-71

“And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying, Art thou the Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe: And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go. Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God. Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am. And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.”

It seems the enemy has the upper hand. They’ve arrested Him and they will stop at nothing to get what they want. The religious leaders were trying their hardest to get Jesus to say He was the Son of God, which according their law would be blasphemous. For anyone else, it would be. But for Jesus, it was simply the truth.

But Jesus throws in this statement that I absolutely love.

“If I tell you, ye will not believe: And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go. Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God.”

Jesus knows what’s happening and what the future holds. But, the scheming men are clueless. They think they are in control and will get what they’ve come for.

“Ye say that I am” was enough for them to charge him with blasphemy. A charge that meant certain death. They had what they needed.

But, we know the ending, don’t we?

While it seems hope is lost and the enemy is in control, we know God has a master plan. Not to just defeat these religious leaders, but to defeat evil, death, and Satan. Soon, the truth will be revealed as Jesus is raised from the dead. And the enemy is dumbfounded.

Does it feel like that to you today? Maybe you’re dealing with something and it feels like the enemy is in control. Your voice isn’t being heard or even if you did speak up, no one would listen. It feels like they’re closing in on you and you just want the truth to be revealed.

It will be. In due time.

Like Jesus did often, take time to get away and pray. Seek the Lord’s wisdom and ask for discernment in this situation. Study His Word and live it out. You know who wins in the end. Trust in God to work it out.
