Do you ever think something you have been asked to do is “stupid”?

Bible Connection
In 1 Samuel 13, we have a man named Saul, the king of God’s people. A huge army had come to fight the Israelites – there were as many enemy soldiers as sand on the seashore! As a result, Saul called all the fighting men to come support him. Saul had one job: wait on Samuel, God’s prophet, before doing anything. You see, Samuel represented God’s voice, and he would direct the army on what to do.
Read 1 Samuel 13:5-14, and tell me what Saul did.
Saul’s army was crumbling and giving way to fear. Samuel was supposed to show up seven days ago and lead them, and he was nowhere to be found. Saul felt pressure when he saw his army hiding or running away. So, he took matters into his own hands by doing the sacrifice himself. He didn’t trust God’s instructions of waiting on Samuel; as a result, Saul would lose his kingship. When we give way to fear, doubt, and insecurities, we lose out on some of the Lord’s best blessings. His desire is that we are people after His own heart, people who trust Him and obey Him.
Faith Connection
What do you do when you pray about something, and it feels like God hasn’t answered it? Sometimes, we can question God, like Saul. Other times, we doubt God, thinking He has forgotten about us.
In a world where we get answers fast, God wants us to be willing to wait because that’s when our faith develops. God is often in the silence – it allows faith to do its work. It produces a faith that lasts.
