No Time to Wait and See

I’ll just wait and see.

As the hurricane gained strength, many people watched the weather reports and began to prepare. As warnings came through, they listened. They boarded up windows and doors, packed the essentials, stored their most precious things as best as they could in the highest places, and sought refuge outside of their homes.

And yet some stayed saying, “I’ll just wait and see”.

As it got closer, more people realized the danger and packed up. Police and fire escorts were evacuating the town due to the emergency warnings. Yet, there was still a group that said, “I’ll just wait and see”.

It made landfall and brought terrible and vicious winds that ripped at everything in sight. The rains were so hard and coming from the side, you couldn’t see anything around you.

Water levels continued to rise as the rains kept coming and the waves crashed into the shore and over the barriers. As the waters crept inside homes, those that had chosen to stay, scurried trying to get things to higher ground. It filled the first floor, most of their things with them on the second. A rescue boat came by to offer a trip to safety, but the people ignored them and said, “I’ll just wait and see”.

But as it continued to rise, the people sought even higher ground. The roof was the last place they could go as the rains continued to pour and the water continued to rise.

No cell phone service, no way to call for help, they hoped someone in a helicopter or plane would fly over and see them. They used towels to spell out the word help on the roof.

Two groups of people, one warning. They both heard it and made their decision. One group heeded the warning and found safety and rest, the other ignored the warning, trusting in themselves and found terror and destruction.

“When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.” (Matthew 25:31-33)

In this passage, Jesus tells of the final judgment. It’s coming. The warning has been sounded. There will be two groups- the sheep and the goats and they will be separated.

The sheep are those that have put their faith in Jesus as the Messiah.

“Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world” (Matthew 25:34)

The goats are those that did not trust in Christ, instead choosing their own way.

“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels” (Matthew 25:41)

“And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.” (Matthew 25:46)

The warning has been sounded.

What will you choose?

Some will prepare and ask Jesus to save them and choose to follow Him. They will receive an eternal reward of a kingdom in Heaven and be with God.

Others will say “I’ll just wait and see”. But there is no time to wait. It will be too late. Those that delay and deny His offer of salvation will have torment and punishment for eternity. Not for a day, a week, or even a year… eternity, my friends. Eternity without God.

What will you decide?

The time to act is now. There is no time to wait and see.
