I read this verse last night, “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” (Proverbs 19:21)

So how can I know God has a plan when this world seems in chaos? Because God is the same God who led his people out of Egypt and revealed His power in interesting ways.

“Then the Lord said, ‘Put your hand inside your cloak.’ So Moses put his hand into his cloak, and when he took it out, the skin was leprous—it had become as white as snow. ‘Now put it back into your cloak,’ he said. So Moses put his hand back into his cloak, and when he took it out, it was restored, like the rest of his flesh. Then the Lord said, ‘If they do not believe you or pay attention to the first sign, they may believe the second. But if they do not believe these two signs or listen to you, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. The water you take from the river will become blood on the ground.’” (Exodus 4:6-9)

The Lord gave Moses tiny glimpses of His plan. These were signs God would use to show the Pharaoh and the people His power and reign as the true King.

Would I have thought to use leprosy, a disease that, at that time, had no cure and caused a great deal of suffering, to show God’s glory? Of course not. But my ways are not God’s.

“‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord.
‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’” (Isaiah 55:8-9)

I don’t understand why God allows things to happen the way He does. But I can still trust Him. His plan is far greater than what I could have organized. . . and I’m a pretty good organizer!

What does Lifeword offer that people are looking for?

Why would that many people go there?

What are they searching for?

Hope.

Lifeword shares that hope and peace and other answers people seek that can only be found in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

He is the One who offers eternal life.

He is the One who forgives us of our sins.

He is the One who reigns forevermore!

Jesus is the God who is in control.

God has a plan. He may use a disease that doesn’t have a cure and causes a great deal of suffering to bring people to Him. And if He does, I will still trust Him.

I know what happens to Moses and the people of Israel. I know God brought His people through it before and He will bring us through this now.

Will you trust Him today?

I saw a meme that said: “The worst purchase: a 2020 planner”.

Seriously.

Is this where I thought we’d be?

Is this how I thought this year would go?
