We should extol God’s greatness by recognizing who we are in light of who He is. #daybydaylw Interested in learning more about becoming a devoted follower of Christ? Go to follow.lifeword.org! ~~~ Let me bring to light one more feature of this prayer of David’s that puts on display the humility of David and him praising the greatness of God. Throughout this prayer David calls upon the LORD in this way, “O Lord God,”—he does this 10x, and refers to himself as a “servant” 10x; which is emphasizing God’s absolute LORDSHIP over all things and David’s place as a humble servant. David, over and over again, is reminding himself of his proper place in light of who God is. He is the king of Israel, but more importantly he is the servant of God. David goes on to praise God for not only doing great things for him, but great things for Israel and how far God brought Israel—Redeeming Israel, defeating Egypt. How should we extol the greatness of God in our prayers? We recognize who we are in light of who He is. We remember His absolute grace in calling us from darkness to light, and giving us a place in His kingdom to serve.
